Sport fishing is what put Baja's Sea of Cortez and the East Cape areas on the map – Los Barriles is right in the heart of the action. An upwelling of nutrient rich waters brings an amazing variety of game fish into the waters just offshore. Whether you're looking to catch your first marlin or hunting schools of yellowfin tuna, fishing here is fast and furious. Fishing season peaks from May through October but action can be had year-round for species such as:
• Dorado
• Yellowfin Tuna
• Snapper
• Grouper
• Cabrilla
• Wahoo
• Marlin (black, blue and striped)

One of the best things about fishing the East Cape and Los Barriles areas of Baja is not only the diversity of game fish species, but the diversity of techniques used to catch them. Trolling teasers and live or dead baits offshore yields billfish, tuna, dorado and wahoo. Deep dropping on rocky structure gives you the chance to battle brutes like Cubera Snapper, Grouper and Yellowtail. Working surface lures and plugs delivers a mixed bag of Dorado, Tuna, Jack Cravelle and Roosterfish. Flyfisherman will find the experience of sight casting to teased Billfish or schooling Dorado and Tuna irrestible. Surf casting often ends up with a Roosterfish battle you won't soon forget!
